Dodge and Freightliner Sprinter Driveshafts
The Sprinter, made by Freightliner and sold as either a Freightliner or Dodge Sprinter, is German engineering at its best. However, the driveshafts of the Sprinter are perhaps not engineering at its best.

Sprinter driveshafts come in two designs, dependent on wheelbase. The Dodge Sprinter model 2500 and Freightliner Sprinter model 2500 may have a two-piece driveshaft  or three-piece driveshaft. The Dodge model 3500 and Freightliner model 3500 also may have a two-piece driveshaft or three-piece driveshaft.  All Sprinter driveshafts utilize a non-replaceable u-joint. This Sprinter driveshaft design of universal joints, although very sophisticated, means when the universal joint bearings wear out, most of the Sprinter driveshaft must be replaced!  The universal joints of the Sprinter driveshaft are simply not adequately sized for the job they do.  We know of several failures at less than 100,000 miles.

Problems with a Sprinter driveshaft often will cause a shudder at low speeds and high torque and/or a slight vibration at freeway speeds. It only gets worse and if left uncorrected, the resulting vibration can cause significant problems.

If you suspect a problem with your Sprinter driveshafts, call us.  We can help you trouble shoot the problem.  If the symptoms point towards the driveshafts, we stock both the two-piece and the three-piece Sprinter driveshafts as complete assemblies. Our remanufactured Sprinter driveshafts come with new u-joints, yokes and carrier bearings, and are straightened and dynamically balanced.  They have over 50% more service life than the OE Sprinter driveshaft design, in fact, we warranty them for 50,000 miles. Our u-joints for Sprinter driveshafts are greasable, and are contained in their yokes with clips, which makes them easily repairable. If they do wear out,  our Sprinter driveshaft u-joints can be replaced like any u-joint and at a reasonable cost.

We keep all repair parts for our Sprinter driveshafts in stock, so you can keep "Sprinting" as fast as possible.
